United Wool Marketers Group
The United Wool Marketers Group represents every significant New Zealand wool interest, in fact everyone apart from Wool Partners International.
Go to the Wool Exporters page and put names to faces. These are just some of the people who handle wool -- from the farm gate, at auction, through scours and then export it to wool processing mills around the world.
They pay you the wool grower just 11 days after the fall of the auction hammer and exporters have never, ever defaulted. In many cases exporters don’t get paid for 180 days after delivery to the customer.
Payment is even longer when the exporter has to hold wool for six months to keep supply constant and meet customer processing schedules. For example lambs wool is only available for a short period, but the customer wants it delivered all year round. The exporters meet the cost of owning and holding this wool.
They insure the wool, scour it to order, ship it, provide a billion dollars of finance and they market it to the world’s last remaining wool processing mills.
Exporters recognise the dire straits faced by New Zealand’s meat and wool growers and want to take a positive stand. They want you, the wool growers, to be well informed and that’s why we have produced this newsletter.
